"Promised" by Leah Garriott

Image
Lovely, clean period romance! "Promised" by Leah Garriott Romance, clean; period; Proper Romance Clean period romance. Margaret and Gregory's story was a lovely fall. A wager leads Gregory to seek Margaret's attention and affections. Margaret, still hurting from a failed engagement (she broke it off when the lack of fidelity of her fiance became apparent), has decided to choose a suitor where her heart will not be engaged in the marriage to keep it safe, and her secure in a situation. After spending time with Gregory (Lord Williams) in different setting, they gradually both have their hearts opened to each other. Lovely settings, sweet, tender moments, a bit of sass and fun, along with kindness, courtesies, gifts, and support as Alice, Margaret's sister struggles with illness. Solid side characters, setting, and moments make this a gorgeous, lush read. Loved it. I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and hone...

"Crosscheck (Northbrook Hockey Elite Book 4)" by Rebecca Connolly

Perfect romantic Sports read! Hockey backstory made this intense and fun!   "Crosscheck (Northbrook Hockey Elite Book 4)" Rebecca Connolly Romance, clean; Series, but stand-alone read This was a gorgeous read! I love R. C.'s characters in these series! She gets the interplay between the characters, adds a wonderful amount of intensity in her 'coverage'/description of the games, and just overall gets the interaction, pacing, and romance needed to move these novels forward.  This is one of my favorites in this series so far. Having a little girl, the parent side of it, the romance, and the games, so perfect as she narrates these and pulls all these threads together.  Well-crafted and a 'win' for me! Go Sabercats! I can't wait to read the next in this series! Zane and Mara are honest heartfelt characters, and the other members of the Sabercats on the former Northbrook Hockey team, are fun, their friendship, passion for their former teammates, ad...

"Skyler's Wanna-Be Wife" by Liz Isaacson

Image
Sweet, heartfelt lovely romance at it's finest! Family, friendship, and romance!   "Skyler's Wanna-Be Wife: Christmas Brides for Billionaire Brothers" by Liz Issacson Romance, clean; Series, but stand alone read although characters from other novels appear Skyler and Mal's marriage and fall was a sincere, honest, heartfelt, and sweet romantic read. L.I. knows how to get in her character's minds and hearts and make their worries and aspirations, concerns, failures, heartbreak, and problems along with their successes, kindnesses, love, emotions, and attractions come out so well. Skyler's feelings of insecurity based on his past disappointments, his wanting to help Mal out of her bad situation and immigration problems, their friendship, attraction and mutual care for each other was a such a gorgeous read. Intermingle parents, brother's and their wives, and lots of family emotions, gatherings, misunderstandings, and wonderful moments, a...

"Adoring Abigail"

Image
Adoring Abigail review Romance, period, clean; Abigail and Robert's story was sweetly done. Abigail's speech impediment, her mistreatment by her family, and all the unkindness heaped upon her, was so disheartening. Robert and his family's acceptance, kindness, and general goodness to her, opened up her heart to being herself around them. Robert's building attraction to her as he navigated his new position and established his home at his inherited estate, with the addition of his sister and mother, figuring out the small town intricacies and social structures and norm, while remaining true to who he was, was honest, real, and made for a good problem for him to face. The Vicar, her grandmother and other characters were slightly flat for me, but since they were more minor characters, that was ok. Lovely setting between the house, the gardens, and the contrast with the cottage. Abigail's confidence building as she becomes more comfortable with the Wilkins' family w...

"If for Any Reason" Courtney Walsh Book Birthday!

Image
Happy Book Birthday to Courtney Walsh! Lucky to have received an ARC from her publisher! See my review link below! "If for Any Reason" Courtney Walsh Romance, clean; mild faith elements More of a 4.5 for me as a reader. Emily story, her past, present, and we get a glimpse at her new future, is a sweet, introspective, romantic lovely read. Her past with her mother, grandparents and the bits of her father that she knows, collide in the present when secrets start coming to light. Second chances for many people. Hollis' worries with regard to his daughter, his want for Emily, lovely, hurting, wondering, and romantic as the tender, soft spoken, and kind man is trying to figure out his present after bumbling his past as he navigated his career as a professional baseball player. His parents' tender, romantic and family center marriage is an example to both Hollis and Emily. Strong characters, beautifully peaceful setting, and moving backstories ...

Starting my clean book review blog!

Image
Reading well over 250 novels/novellas a year, I felt it was time to put my review work to some real work!  I will be adding to my page every week, sometimes daily. Can't wait to start this project that I have dreamed about for many years! To me! Sharing the love of clean reads with mainly HEA is my dream! My first review is of course, a play on the name! One of my favorite reads that I discovered with my children, but appealed to me as an adult with it's genuine, honest emotions. "Flipped" by Wendelin Van Draanen This is the perfect read for anyone who loves a two person narration. Told from alternating points of view, a lovely introspective, heartfelt, honest, and beautifully written young adult novel. Anyone would love reading this. There are so many clever, honest, insightful moments in this novel. Bryce and Juli, their families, the hurts, the misunderstandings, the epiphanies, it is all so well done and so well composed. I will always be a f...
