Searching For Irene

Searching For Irene By Irene Bateman     My GoodReads review  ⭐⭐⭐✩ Romance, mystery, sweet, period; Anna arrives to help Lawrence with his book keeping and tax filings for his multifaceted estate.  She has a secret reason for coming.  The person prior to her left mysteriously and without any warning or speaking to anyone. Tyler and Lawrence's other son, aren't happy to have Anna around.  Some antagonistic staff, threats to her, and other mysterious things happen as she searches both physically for Irene, and also for other evidence that might lead to finding the person who killed her.  Secrets abound and Anna is unsure who she can trust. Her determination leads her to find Irene's remains, and helps her uncover the mystery surrounding her disappearance and death. Along the way, she finds love and hope for herself (won't say who to avoid a spoiler). Loved the setting, the house, the family. 3.5 stars for this for writing style. I feel like the story its...

The Rules of Matrimony by Anneka R. Walker ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Romance, sweet, period; series, but stand alone read Ian and Amie's story was a lovely fall.  A lie created to save Amie from a lecherous cousin's advances blows up out of proportion and Ian instead of leaving Amie with a ruined reputation and left to the demands of her cousin/and family to marry against her will.  Ian, seeing the awful predicament she is in, decides to go ahead and marry her, seeing she could help his work to make change in the country.  He makes her promise to not demand anything more than a home and comfort, no relationship or demands on each other.   Ian soon realizes that Amie is working her way into his heart and his future hopes.  They both build a friendship, and more through their everyday interactions.  Lovely sweet fall, this one is my favorite of this series. The characters were genuine, honest hearts, and their sweet gradual fall made for a wonderful read.

The Seat Filler Sariah Wilson GoodReads     ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭑ Romance, clean, contemporary; series but stand alone read; PG13 for detailed make out scene  Sweet romance with just the right amount of swoony romance. "A Waterfront Wedding" a Heart's Landing Novel Book 3 by Leigh Duncan

A Waterfront Wedding Heart's Landing Novel Book 3 Leigh Duncan GoodReads Review Romance, contemporary, clean; Series, but stand alone read ⭐⭐⭐⭑ I'm loving this series more each one I read. I love the genuine, honest hearts that are the main characters, and the people in the town, the couples getting married, just so beautifully drawn. Definitely sweet romance, and while it's a bit predictable, still this was so well described, the moments, the cares and concerns of the couples, their traumas, their dreams and heartaches. Sweet, fun, definitely fun to see the wedding portion of the book as the brides and grooms choose their Wedding in a Week moment. A perfect, light read with the caring hard working community. Wish we could all live in Hearts Landing!  Ryan and Evelyn's story, their deepening devotion to each other, and re-connection in the present after their childhood growing up together, was a lovely novel. The setting with the contest was fun, and spotli...

"Danger on the Loch" by Paige Edwards

Danger on the Loch Paige Edwards GoodReads Review      ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Romance, mystery, sweet, Contemporary; Series, but stand alone read Paige's story was so well done. I hadn't read the other novels in this series, and after reading this one, had to read them all! Perfect mystery/suspense read, and loved the setting and the backstory behind Paige's father, the DNA test, and her trip to Scotland to figure out her place in that part of her family, and find if her heart has a home and loved one in her father. Loved the castle and all the intrigue there, the past as it gets exposed and the intrigue. Her relationship with James was so fun to read, and his support during the intrigue and accidents was so well drawn. They were both great characters, and fun to read about another Pressley-Combs finding his one true heart-love. Loved reading the other novels and getting more of the back story (after I read this one). Lovely addition to this series and highly recommend ...
